The City Council meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. to consider two 10-year on-sale liquor operating agreements: one for Buffalo Wild Wings and one for the 9 Bar Nightclub. Both decisions will be on the consent agenda, meaning they are expected to pass without discussion unless a council member requests further debate. The council will also handle routine approvals and accept public comment during an open forum period at the start of the meeting.

Also on the council's plate this week: the Sustainability Council gathers Wednesday at an unspecified time to discuss budget updates, education initiatives, climate and biodiversity work, energy and waste projects, and local food efforts. A work day at the Food Forest is planned as part of that meeting. On Thursday evening, the city council will be present at the Downtown at Sundown event on Main Avenue from 5:30 to 9 p.m., though no official business will be conducted there.

The Brookings County 765 kV Transmission Line Advisory Committee meets Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the County/City Government Center to hear a presentation about high-voltage transmission lines and discuss a possible moratorium request. The Historic Preservation Commission also convenes Thursday to review state case reports for four properties and approve July minutes, while the Library Board meets the same evening to approve bills and discuss the Hoopla digital collection.

A quieter week for community offerings includes a beaded plant craft at the library Monday morning and evening, and a pollinator hanger craft at the Agricultural Heritage Museum that same day at 7:30 p.m. for $1. The library hosts a grilled cheese cooking class for teens Tuesday, trivia night Wednesday at Wooden Legs Brewing Company starting at 7:30 p.m., and a floral window-hanging workshop Wednesday afternoon for teens. Bingo night runs Thursday at the VFW from 7 p.m., and the Brookings Arts Council opens its 51st Annual Fine Art Exhibition Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Farmers Market runs Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon on the 300 block of 6th Avenue. Pasque bookstore hosts a Romance Day Saturday with a local author signing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. That same morning, the 10 a.m. showing of Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie at Cinema 8 benefits Brookings Humane, with $5 tickets at the door and 100 percent of proceeds donated. Wood-fired pizza nights continue Sunday at Good Roots Farm from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. by pre-order, and the Soggy Doggy dog swim runs Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Aquatic Center for $7 per dog.
