Brookings Register, the town's newspaper, closed in August 2025. Since then, there's been no single place to find out what the city council decided, what's happening at the library this week, or when the Jackrabbits play next. Brookings View is an attempt to fill that gap.

How it works

The site is built and updated automatically. Every hour, it checks the city's and county's public meeting agendas, the library's event calendar, SDSU's athletics schedule, the National Weather Service, and USDA market data. New information is summarized in plain language and published — no person reviews each item before it goes live.

Brookings View doesn't cover arrests, court records, or obituaries. That's a deliberate choice, not an oversight: this site exists to tell you what's happening in your town, not to follow anyone through a hard moment in their life. If you're looking for that kind of coverage, you won't find it — by design.
