How this page works
This page reads two sources directly: Brookings School District 05-1's own closure notices, and active National Weather Service alerts (Winter Storm Warning, Blizzard Warning, Ice Storm Warning, Extreme Cold Warning, Winter Weather Advisory) for this area. It never predicts a closure -- the Watch state only means a relevant alert is active and nothing has been announced yet. An optional short paragraph of context may be shown, generated by AI from the alert's own text and checked against a rule that rejects any predictive language before it can be published; when that check fails, or hasn't run yet, only the plain facts above are shown.
