The SD State Championship comes to University Plains Speedway on August 23–24, 2026. Racers age 5 to 70+ compete in 13–16 classes of kart racing on the 1/5-mile dirt oval track at 1942 Medary Ave on Brookings's north edge. Spectator gates open at noon; races begin at 3 p.m. Children under 12 enter free; spectators 12 and older pay $5. Fresh concessions are available on site.
