The Brookings City Council accepted the Brookings Area Transportation Plan and adopted Resolution 26-039, putting in place the Brookings Area Safety Plan and the 2050 Vision Zero Safety Goal, at its June 23 meeting. Council members also awarded the Dakota Nature Park public art installation project to DJR Design Studio and gave first reading to an ordinance rezoning Block 2 of the Northern Plains Addition from a Business B-2A Office District to a Planned Development District with a Business B-2A underlying district; a public hearing on that change is set for July 14. During open forum, a resident raised concerns about water issues and a change in ownership at Western Estates. The council's next regular meeting has been moved from July 28 to Thursday, July 30.
