Extreme Heat Warning

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for Brookings County until 9 PM CDT tonight, July 26, with heat index values expected to peak between 105 and 115 degrees. The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says heat-related illness risk rises sharply in these conditions, especially for anyone working or spending time outdoors. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning when possible, and check on relatives and neighbors. Never leave children or pets in a parked car, and limit strenuous outdoor activity to early morning or evening.
